Visitors to the 18th annual Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals this weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex will be treated to a rare visit by one of the few Top Fuel Dragster teams based in Canada on Saturday night.
Long-time TF team Paton Racing, from Paris Ontario, will be on hand for the weekend show, which is presented by NAPA Auto Parts and Ideal Supply. Headed by team owner Barry Paton, the dragster will be driven by son Todd Paton, who has several years experience behind the wheel, after stepping up from his Alcohol Funny Car with two IHRA Funny Car championships. He stepped into the dragster in 2003, and has recorded a career best ET in the car with a 4.66 second pass and a best speed posting of 322 mph.
There will be full, points-meet events in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

Rookie Year driver Tyler Scott in the Kardiac Kids TA/FC is looking to take out fan favorite and mentor Paul Noakes in the Meritor TA/FC Mustang at the Hot August Nationals. Earlier this season, Tyler Scott obtained his NHRA TA/FC license with Noakes being the officiating signing driver of his passes in June.
Weekend meet at Grand Bend celebrates 18th birthday of this huge drag race event
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (July 28, 2014) – The tradition continues for one of the most popular drag races in Canada.
To celebrate its 18th year, the weekend of drag racing fondly known as “The Stratford Days” will continue with the August 8-10 running of the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
This popular event started at St. Thomas Dragway in 1996 with a group of local Southwestern Ontario racers joining up with local businesses to promote a day at the track. The event has blossomed over the years, with solid support from the business community and more than 500 cars taking part in the quarter-mile racing.
The Stratford Days event has been held at Grand Bend for more than a dozen years.
PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS return to Grand Bend August 8-10
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (July 10, 2014) – It’s one of the most popular drag racing events on the calendar, and three popular drag race series will return to the Grand Bend Motorplex August 8-10 for the running of the 18th annual Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals.
The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series all return to Grand Bend to take part in this race, the fourth stop for all three series in 2014.
Once again presented by NAPA Auto Parts and Ideal Supply, the Stratford Spectacular event features free admission for all during the three-day race.
